The library remains one of the most beloved establishments, offering fantastic services to the community and providing families with a place to keep kids educated year-round. However, if you stopped at any of the 22 KDL branches over the weekend, you likely noticed they were closed.

Well, as of today, all KDL locations remain closed and will remain closed for the foreseeable future due to a network outage that has halted internal operations.
KDL Libraries Outages
On April 24th, the Kent District Library posted on Facebook that their "computer services are currently down. Branches are closed today." The following day, the library extended the downtime to cover the entire weekend. On Sunday night, the library posted another update, this time suggesting it will be closed until further notice. Updates on the outage appear at the top of the KDL.org website.
This outage does not affect services, such as the eBook and audiobook apps Libby and hoopla, as well is video-streaming service Kanopy. Due dates for returns and hold pickup notifications are being adjusted for the time closed.
But it seems to affect the ability to check out books, check book inventory, and more. The basic functions that modern libraries rely on to keep everything running smoothly.

KDL has stated it will send out an email to all library users once the services are back up. This article will also be updated once everything is back to normal. For many, the library being closed is one of those things you don't realize you have until it's gone.
