J.K. Simmons to Throw Out First Pitch at Detroit Tigers’ Opening Day

Detroit Tigers fans are anxiously awaiting opening day on April 6.

In just over a week, the Tigers will kick off their 2015 season, with a little help from Hollywood.

The Detroit Free Press reports that actor J.K. Simmons, will throw the ceremonial first pitch before the Tigers' Opening Day game against the Minnesota Twins on April 6 at Comerica Park.

Simmons, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor last month for his role in Whiplash, grew up in Grosse Point and is said to be a big Detroit Tigers Fan.
