Michigan might be best known for its incredible lakefronts, green forests, and agriculture, but we are also home to some beautiful neighborhoods and extravagant homes. PropertyClub has put together a list of the 10 richest and most elite cities in Michigan, and some of the names might surprise you.

Calculating a Michigan City's Wealth

Money—lots and lots of money—is what makes a Michigan city rich. But PropertyClub considered more than just piles of cash. Rich folks have investments, and some would argue that there is no bigger investment than that of your home. One of the key metrics used to find Michigan's most elite metro is the average home price in each locale.

In addition to the home price, the study also considered each city's population and the approximate income of each resident to determine its per capita income. In 2023, Michigan's statewide per capita income, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, was $59,714. As you'll see, the 10 cities appearing on the state's richest list have considerably more coming in.
