Michigan City Named 2nd Most Violent In The Country: Full Top 100
Violence may never be the answer, but it is definitely among the most popular options for a few cities in Michigan. While conflicts are best resolved without physical confrontation (at least, that's what our mothers and teachers told us in Michigan), some areas of the country have a much higher concentration of violence. According to World Population Review, Michigan is home to the nation's second most violent city.

Before we look at the 20 most violent cities in America and reveal which Michigan metro sits just below number one, let's define what type of crime is considered "violent."
Crimes That Are Considered 'Violent' in the State of Michigan
A violent crime is one in which the offender uses or threatens the victim with force. These offenses include, but aren't limited to, homicide, murder, assault, rape, robbery, kidnapping, negligence, manslaughter, and sexual assault.
For some Michiganders, these types of crimes don't exist in their daily lives, and the thought that these things could happen in their neighborhoods doesn't even enter their minds. However, that isn't true for some of Michigan's more populated areas.
The Most Violent City in Michigan and the Nation's 2nd Most Violent
When World Population Review combed over violent crime reports for 2023, it was clear that the most violent city in Michigan was Detroit. It is nearly the nation's hub for violence, were it not for another Midwest metro edging it out for the number spot.
