Michigan Man Wins $6M in Super Raffle Lottery Shock
Some people win something and immediately start screaming. Some people cry. Others say a lot of words that would get me in trouble to write. And then there are people like this Michigan man, who had a moment where your brain short-circuits before your legs even catch up to what’s happening.
A 69-year-old Michigan Lottery player and his wife recently found out they’re officially multimillionaires after hitting the top prize in the Super Raffle game.
The ticket was bought at B&T Party Store in Somerset Center, because he liked the odds.
On the day of the drawing, he checked his raffle number online. That number (130129) turned out to be worth six million dollars. The kind of number you look at twice. Then a third time. Then you call your spouse over, because surely this can’t be real.
He showed his wife the screen, and for a brief moment, reality fully paused. That “are we breathing” kind of pause. Because when you go from normal life to multimillionaire in a single click, your body needs a second to catch up.
Honestly? I don’t blame him one bit for losing it. I’d be dancing down Michigan Street if I won $15, and this man won enough to retire six times.
The couple recently made the trip to Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim their prize. He chose to take the one-time lump sum payment, which came out to about 4.1 million dollars, which would again, send me screaming into any major busy intersection.
As for what’s next? He’s sharing the winnings with his kids and saving the rest, which is a smart move. Nothing better than being a normal Michigan couple having your entire future shift in the most unexpected way possible. (And honestly, good for them.)
