The latest crop of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced today, with Guns N' Roses leading the pack. Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cure (who are my favorite band of all time) and 12 more artists are also on the ballot.

Hip-hop icons Eric B. & Rakim, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Rufus with Chaka Khan join the group of first-time nominees. Beastie Boys make their return to the Hall of Fame ballot. The full list of nominees can be found on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's official website.

Over 500 ballots will be sent out to voters to determine who will be inducted into the class of 2012. Artists become eligible for nomination 25 years after the initial release of their first album or single. Guns N' Roses debut album Appetite for Destruction was released back in 1987.
