Popular Grand Rapids Hot Dog Cart to Open New Drive-Thru Restaurant

Maybe you've grabbed a hot dog across the street from Van Andel Arena before a Griffin's game or after a concert. The well-known cart, a staple for many downtown visitors, is now leveling up in a big way—with a new brick-and-mortar restaurant.

For more than ten years, hot dog lovers have been able to enjoy all-beef, artisanal hot dogs from Roger Bouwman's GringoDog’s Mobile Hotdog Shop, a familiar presence at events and street corners throughout Grand Rapids.

Now, Bouwman is making his longtime dream a reality. He tells MLive that his goal has always been to expand with a permanent location—and that time has come.

GringoDog's Dog House restaurant is set to open June 1 at 3648 S. Division Ave. in Wyoming, pending the successful completion of all inspections. The new spot will be a walk-up and drive-thru joint where guests can order GringoDog's signature hot dogs, corn dogs, crispy French fries cooked in beef tallow, seven-cheese smoked mac-n-cheese, smoked baked beans, plus Coke products and fresh coffee.

The Dog House will be great for late night cravings —eventually! According to MLive, to start the restaurant will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., but Bouwman hopes to add more employees and soon be able to stay open until 3 a.m. some nights.
