WGRD debuted Bring Me the Horizon's new single “Happy Song” on the Liquid Lunch today!

We asked GRD listeners their opinions on the new song. What do you think of “Happy Song”? Check it out and vote below!

The song comes from BMTH's fifth album, That's the Spirit, released Sept. 11.

Right around when the album came out, I talked with BMTH keyboardist and lyricist Jordan Fish about new album and Bring Me the Horizon’s current sound:

“We kind of moved in that direction on the last one [album]. When we came to write this one, we didn’t know what we were going to do. We released ‘Drown’ as a single last year and it’s sort of become a really big song for us. I think that subconsciously we were kind of testing the waters to see if people would accept that… because it was such a radical change. And then when we came to write the album we just kind of wrote what we wanted to write and the stuff that was exciting us. Until we finished we didn’t really realize it was such a big leap… For us it feels like a natural progression.”

Frontman Oli Sykes talked with Revolver about That's the Spirit:

“I wouldn’t call it ‘conceptual, but the whole album’s about the celebration of depression—not saying, ‘Yeah, it’s a good thing to be depressed,’ but that it’s better to accept depression rather than trying to block out the darkness. It’s about accepting it, accepting who you are, and accepting what life is."
