Home to award-winning breweries and recently voted "Best Beer Scene" in the USA, Grand Rapids has a lot going for it in the craft beer department.

Now craft beer lovers here in Beer City USA will have the opportunity to learn more about the science of beer at the Grand Rapids Public Museum

GRPM is offering three "Beer Explorers" classes this summer in partnership with Brewery Vivant, as part of their "Science Tuesdays" program.

Each class will explore a different scientific approach to brewing and tasting beer. The June 21 class will cover the history of science and beer, including how science is used in a modern brewery. The July 19 class is about flavor: You'll learn how taste and aroma combine to make the flavors you love in craft beers. The August 16 class explores yeast science and wild fermentations.

Ryan Engemann, Wandering Monk Sales Representative at Brewery Vivant, who has also worked for Right Brain Brewery and Short's Brewing Company, will lead the classes. The price of each class includes general admission to the museum and three beer samples. A cash bar will available too.
