Gourmet Cotton Candy Store to Open in Muskegon

A new gourmet cotton candy shop is making its debut in Muskegon today.

Hey Sugar on 1923 Lakeshore Drive in Muskegon is holding a soft open Friday, June 19, 11a.m. to 6p.m. as part of the virtual Taste of Muskegon event.

Starting as a mobile business, frequenting farmers markets and catering weddings, birthday parties, and other events, this is Hey Sugar's first brick and mortar location.

In a Facebook video, owner Danielle Bradford says they started out 2020 with lots of big plans that had to change due to COVID-19. As all events were being canceled and rescheduled, they decided to pivot and open a store.

Bradfield tells WZZM-13 she feels really grateful to have received $5,000 in a Start Garden's five by five night, which has helped her vision of owning a store become a reality.

According to Hey Sugar's website, their delicately spun sugars are handmade and organic with no artificial colors or flavors.
