Former MSU President to Stand Trial for Lying in Nassar Case

The ghost of Larry Nassar lives on with another case against a former Michigan State University employee.

According to WOOD, Lou Ann Simon who is the former MSU President will be going to court to fight charges against lying to police when they were investigating the Larry Nassar case.

After seven days of testimony, Judge Julie Reincke has determined there is enough evidence to charge Simon.

Prosecutors say Simon lied about knowing Nassar was being investigated back in 2014, She is now being charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors for allegedly lying to police.

Simons attorney, Lee Silver made this statement:

"While we respect the District Court's decision, we are disappointed by the District Court's ruling in light of the stark lack of evidence to support the charges against Lou Anna Simon. We plan to vigorously defend Dr. Simon and fully expect to prevail in the Circuit Court."

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessell made the following statement:

"Today's decision tomove forward with trial brings survivors another step closer to receiving the answers they deserve. After months of preliminary examination and thoughtful consideration by Judge Julie Reinke, we are ready to bring the facts to a jury of Ms. Simon's peers."

Simon will return to court December 12.

Larry Nassar was convicted of child pornography and sexual assault charges after hundreds of women came forward to say he molested them while giving them medical care.
