Have you thought about New Years Eve plans yet? Firekeepers Casino has decided to close at 3 p.m. NYE.

Ever since the pandemic has begun I have just taken days one at a time. Rarely have I looked to far a head making plans this year because of the unknown of the virus and safety for my son, family and myself.

According to WOOD, FireKeepers Casino Hotel located in Battle Creek, Michigan, have been proactive on a decision on what is traditionally is one of their busiest days of the year on New Year's Eve has decided to go on the side of safety and close to the public at 3 p.m. The doors will open back up to the public at 7 a.m. on January 1, 2021. There will be invitation-only events that will occur instead.

FireKeepers Vice President of Marketing said, "this is not the year for that type of event. With our occupancy constraints due to social distancing, we can't be the place where the public goes to party this year."

This seems like a unheard of decision by FireKeepers but I have to say I applaud them for making a stance and doing it early so people who normally visit them New Year's Eve can make other plans.

I have not even given one thought about New Year's Eve this year, I'm just getting into Thanksgiving mode and just hoping to spend that holiday with my son, parents, sister, brother in law and nephew. That's my bubble in a nutshell.

With the rise of COVID-19 across the state of Michigan, it will be interesting to see if other area casinos follow FireKeepers lead or do their own thing.

FireKeepers plan to offer several specials for their customers the days leading up to New Year's Eve as well as the day of until 3 p.m.  Here is a link to a list of events.
