FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek has announced they will be re-opening, after closing amid COVID-19 concerns, Monday, June 1, 2020, WOODTV reports.

They will be enacting plenty of safety measures as well, including requiring everyone who wants to enter to wear a face mask.  They will also have decals on the floor to help people keep their distance, and they will ask people to keep their distance from other guests they didn’t travel with to the casino.

Kathy George, FireKeepers' CEO, told WOODTV,

“During the past few weeks, the FireKeepers leadership team has worked diligently in every area of the casino and hotel to develop strategies to safely operate during these unprecedented times.”

The first start will be walking into the casino, where everyone’s temperature will be taken, and if you do have an elevated temp. or any other symptoms, you’ll be asked to leave and not return until you’ve been symptom-free for 72 hours, according to WOODTV.

Other changes will be fewer tables in the restaurants and distanced for safety, the buffet will remain closed, and not all the games will be operational. Also, every other slot machine on the floor will be turned off, gaming tables will be reconfigured to accommodate fewer players, safety distanced.

Smoking is also going to be banned inside the casino, but there will be smoking areas outside, but you’ll have your temperature checked before you’re able to come back in, even from smoking.

WOODTV also got a list of other things that won’t open Monday at FireKeepers Casino Hotel, including:

  • Poker, bingo, Mijem Buffet and Chi Mon-ee’s
  • Self-service beverage stations
  • The parking garage
  • Entry at Dacey’s Sportsbook.
  • Valet parking. (The area may be used for drop-offs and pickups.)
  • Hotel pool and fitness areas
  • Bus group visits

The hotel and casino will open at 11 am Monday.  Officials suggest using their “slot calculator” which will be updated in real-time, to let you know how busy the casino floor is, and whether you’ll be able to play when you get there.  You can find the “slot calculator” on the Firekeepers’ website.
