Ferris State Building Dorm Where You Can Watch Football From Bed
Ferris State University athletics is at the top of its game. Since 2021, the football team has won four National Championships in the last five years, and in the 2024-2025 season alone, its softball team made it to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013, women's volleyball went undefeated and reached the DII Elite Eight, men's and women's track and field had record seasons, and both tennis teams made the NCAA DII Tournament.
phew.

What do all those accolades get you? Leverage. Riding the wave of these successes, FSU President Dr. Bill Pink unveiled a sprawling, innovative plan to build a new $61 million indoor athletic complex with an indoor turf field and track for athletes and the community.
But while this ambitious and costly plan would be great for athletes, there's an additional part of this plan that is very unique, that I have never seen anywhere else - an entire residence hall attached to the end zone of the outdoor football stadium.
Ferris State's New Indoor Athletics Complex
Last year, Ferris State University unveiled its plans for a bold new indoor athletics complex that will "help build future Ferris State champions", giving its many outdoor sports teams a place to train all year with indoor turf, new locker rooms, and more.
The indoor complex would be directly connected to the current outdoor football field, and local residents will have access to the indoor track and event spaces, opening the complex to locals and allowing athletes to practice during Michigan winters. But as cool as that is, it's surprisingly not even the coolest part of this massive addition to campus.
Ferris State's New "Stadium Hall": Watch Football From Your Bed
Another large part of this project is a new residence hall announced in 2024, situated at the north end of Top Taggart Field. There will be 280 beds, a common space, and study areas for students. It has been aptly named Stadium Hall and makes up $38 million of the overall $68 million athletic complex budget.
The best part is that these dorms are not reserved for student-athletes, meaning any football fan can enjoy the view. It's a very pro-university move, giving one of the most popular areas to sit at a football game exclusively for the students.

The residence hall is already well under construction, with the hall now taking incoming freshmen applicants for this fall. There aren't many other schools that have incorporated housing into their sports complexes.
Ferris State acknowledged that Cornerstone University has a residence hall attached to its baseball stadium, but from my findings, the University of Arizona's Navajo-Pinal Dorms are built into Arizona Stadium. All that to say, what Ferris State University is building is very unique.

The Bulldogs begin their campaign for a third national championship when the season kicks off on August 27th against Pittsburg State in Kansas.
