Winter in Grand Rapids can be tough, with icy sidewalks, snowy streets, and long walks from your car to the front door. For older folks, it can be especially challenging. In Eastown, a new program is helping neighbors look out for each other in a heartwarming way!

The Eastown Community Association (ECA) has launched an initiative where local teens volunteer to shovel city sidewalks and make a clear path from seniors’ homes to the street. The program runs from December 1 through March 31 and covers seniors living roughly between Fulton and Martin Luther King Jr. Street, and Fuller and the East Grand Rapids city limits.

What a great idea, right? It's really a win-win because seniors get help staying safe during the winter and they're reminded the community cares for them! Plus, teens get a chance to connect with neighbors and give back.
