
20+ Michigan Shelters Offering Reduced Pet Adoption Fees To ‘Empty The Shelters’ This Holiday Season
Looking for a way to spread some holiday cheer this year? How about opening your home to a new furry family member?

Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event is back, now running December 1 through December 15 as the Hope for the Holidays Adoption Event. Thanks to the foundation, pet adoption fees are $70 or less. That fee covers spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a lifetime of love from a new best friend.

The foundation says animal shelters across the country are more crowded than they’ve been in over a decade, with pets waiting longer than ever for loving homes.

Hundreds of shelters across the country are participating in the Hope for the Holidays Adoption event, including more than 20 here in Michigan, such as:
- Al-Van Humane Society - 07591 Blue Star Highway, South Haven
- Genesee County Animal Control - 4351 Pasadena Ave., Flint
- Harbor Humane Society - 14345 Bagely St., West Olive
- Ionia County Animal Shelter - 3835 Sparrow Dr., Ionia
- Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter - 600 Buhl St., Mason
- Kent County Animal Shelter - 740 Fuller NE, Grand Rapids
- Oakland County Animal Shelter - 1200 N. Telegraph Building 42 E, Pontiac
- SPCA of Southwest Michigan - 6955 West KL Ave., Kalamazoo
Since 2016, Empty the Shelters has helped more than 370,000 pets find their forever homes.
