The Presidential Election is Over
It seems like the presidential race has been going on for years and I'm so glad it's finally over. I couldn't be alone in thinking all the election phone calls, texts, commercials (radio & TV), and junk mail were a waste of money.

I made a few stops on my way to work the morning after the election not to mention seeing my co-workers when I got to work. I noticed people seemed exhausted whether their candidate won or lost the election. I wondered if there was any science behind how people feel the day or days after the election and below is what I found.

An Election Hangover is a Real Thing
I thought an election hangover was something those got when working all day, squeezing time in to vote, and staying up late to find out the results. Yes, some people might be going a little slower today at work but there is such a thing as an election hangover.

- Anxiety - Stemming from uncertainty.
- Fatigue - Constantly thinking about politics and worrying about the outcome.
- Gloominess- Uncertain about the future.
- Mental Fog - Your brain is wiped out from stress which makes it hard to concentrate.
Ways to recover from an election hangover:
- Distract Yourself - Reach out to friends or family but don't talk politics. Read a book, watch a movie, or whatever your hobby is.
- Get Some Sleep - Sleep and rest are cures for almost everything.
- Take a Break from Social Media
- Workout or Exercise - both are great for your body and your mind.
