Just recently we told you Lions fans are the mostly likely to get duped by fake jerseys. Well, watch out for ticket scams too!

The game will decide who rules the NFC North, with the winner nabbing the No. 1 seed, first-round bye in the playoffs, and home-field advantage until the Super Bowl. The loser will be a wild-card team and have to play on the road.

Some are calling it one of the biggest NFL regular season games ever.

Naturally, it's a game that Lions fans would love to attend! One such fan is Tim Paletti of New Baltimore, who dreamed of taking his son to the game on Sunday. Fox 2 reports that Paletti's son is football player and huge Lions fan. The only thing he'd asked for for Christmas was Lions tickets.

Sadly, after falling for a Facebook scam, Paletti is finding himself with no tickets and out $400.

He tells Fox 2 that tickets on resale websites were out of his price range, so when he saw a good deal on Facebook Marketplace, he messaged the seller.

He said of her profile,

It looked like a normal suburban mom who had kids. (I) thought everything was normal, the picture of her, and I'm assuming her husband, wearing Lions gear.

The seller was offering the tickets for $175 a piece, plus a parking pass for $50.

Paletti sent a Venmo payment of $400 to secure the tickets...and before long realized something was not right.

His messages went unanswered and then the person blocked him.

He's since filed a police report and reached out to Venmo in the hope of getting a refund.

I honestly think I've seen similar ads in other Michigan neighborhood Facebook groups!

In the above video you can see a screenshot. It does not include proper capitalization and is lacking in punctuation. It reads something like,

Hi friends I'm a season detroit lions 💚 🏈 Season ticket holdar I will be selling some of our tickets to this upcoming detroit lions home game

This is a good reminder that if something seems to good to be true, it probably is!

Facebook has several suggestions to stay safe on Facebook Marketplace, like always reviewing the sellers profile to check for ratings and reviews from other buyers. Also, check the page's location and look at how new it is.

Keep in mind that eligible purchases made with checkout on Facebook are covered by purchase protection - but in-person exchanges or other payment methods are not.
