
Michigan Has a New Social Media Account to Protect Residents From Scams
Every day, it feels like there’s a new scam trying to trick us out of our money and our personal information.

Just recently we told you about Facebook Marketplace sellers getting duped by "movie money" here in Michigan. Another recent scam involves phony "relief checks" in connection to the government shutdown.

Attorney General Dana Nessel is quick to issue consumer alerts when scams like this pop up in Michigan. Here's another resource to keep residents safe from scams, identity theft, and other schemes: she's now launching a new consumer protection social media account.

The reason for the account? Nessel says,
Scammers are getting more and more sophisticated, and often use social media to find consumers. We’re meeting people where they are – online – to make sure Michigan residents have the information they need to recognize, avoid, and report scams before it’s too late.
Videos and other interactive posts are designed to help Michiganders stay ahead of scammers. The new account even got an introduction from Gabrielle Pizzolo (Susie from Stranger Things):

- Towing scams
- Payment absence scams
- Government imposter scams
