Chicago-Based Winery Planning West Michigan Tasting Room and Restaurant
A new restaurant and wine-tasting room is coming to 28th Street.
Grand Rapids Business Journal reports that Chicago-based Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is planning to open a location at 4515 28th St. SE in Kentwood, in the former Paulina’s Mexican Restaurant building.
Founded in 2005, Cooper’s Hawk says they travel all over the world searching for the best grapes, then they work with the wine grower to begin crafting their wine.
According to their website, eating at Cooper's Hawk is "a modern, casual dining experience" in an "upscale setting". They describe their food as "a contemporary American menu infused with flavors from around the world".
Copper's Hawk on 28th Street has been approved to sell alcohol inside and out, along with retail alcohol.
In addition to the tasting rooms, there will be an artisanal market at which shoppers can buy decanters, wine accessories, gifts, and items from their gourmet food line.
As for when the new restaurant will open, no specific date is listed on their website; the Kentwood location is marked "coming soon".
There is one other Michigan location. Cooper's Hawk opened a restaurant in Clinton Township in June 2018.
