Back in November, artist J. Scott Campbell announced that Disney is seriously considering wiping out future "Slave Leia" toys from its product merchandise. Now, Carrie Fisher said in a recent interview that she thinks that people getting caught up in the Slave Leia controversy is just stupid.

Fox 29 released a story this summer about one father's outrage upon seeing a Slave Leia action figure of the toy aisles at Target. Since then, Slave Leia toys and memorabilia have been the source of a lot of controversy, but Carrie Fisher has finally weighed in with her opinion on the matter.

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Fisher had this to say:

"There’s been some debate recently about whether there should be no more merchandise with you in the “Return of the Jedi” bikini.

I think that’s stupid.

To stop making the merchandise?

The father who flipped out about it, “What am I going to tell my kid about why she’s in that outfit?” Tell them that a giant slug captured me and forced me to wear that stupid outfit, and then I killed him because I didn’t like it. And then I took it off. Backstage."

Her blunt truth on the matter is certainly heartwarming, but whether it will change the atmosphere surrounding the toys has yet to be seen.
