Body Found on White Pine Trail in Northern Kent County
While many were sitting out in the woods on the first day of firearms deer hunting season, the Kent County Sheriff's Department was on the White Pine Trail, near Cedar Springs, on Monday morning, November 15th, to investigate reports of a male body alongside the trail.
Upon arrival, authorities found a deceased 45 year old man. No foul play is suspected in the man's death. Authorities also wanted area residents to know that there is no threat to community safety.
Overnight cold temperatures may have been a factor in the man's death. Temperatures dipped down to around the freezing mark of 32 degrees overnight on Sunday. Police also believe that intoxication may have contributed to the man's death. Investigators are currently trying to piece together a timeline of events that lead up to the man's death.
The body was found just before 10 am on Monday on the White Pine Trail near 19 Mile Road, just north of Cedar Springs, in northern Kent County.
The man's name has not been released. An autopsy is being performed to help determine a cause of death.
