UPDATE 11/14: Grand Rapids Police have identified a man found deceased in the Grand River Friday morning. 

The victim is 41-year-old Scotty Hardy.

GRPD says the cause of death is unknown and they're awaiting autopsy results form the medical examiner.

The investigation is ongoing. 

According to Wood TV 8 Scott Hardy was homeless and his death comes less than a month after another homeless person, Santino Ysasi, was killed nearby on Bridge St. in Grand Rapids. Wood TV 8 reports the two men knew each other. 

Original Story 11/11:Grand Rapids Police are investigating after a body was found in the Grand River Friday morning.

At approximately 7:24 a.m., GRPD responded to a call of a body discovered in the Grand River under the Michigan/ Bridge St. Bridge near downtown Grand Rapids.

A fisherman had called 9-1-1 after spotting the deceased in the water.

According to police, a 41-year-old male was recovered from the river and pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased's identity has not been revealed.

The Grand Rapids Fire Department assisted with recovery efforts and the Medical Examiner’s Office was also on the scene.

GRPD says the investigation by their Major Case Team is ongoing.
