An injured beaver found on Sixth Street Bridge in Grand Rapids is doing well today thanks to fast-acting volunteers and organizations.

On Tuesday morning, Wildlife Rehab Center in Grand Rapids issued a call for help after they heard there was an injured beaver stranded on Sixth Street Bridge. The beaver was soon brought to Wildlife Rehab Center.

Wildlife Rehab Center says the beaver, which has been named Wookie, has an injured leg after being hit by a car. Wookie was given pain medicine and will receive further treatment today as Wildlife Rehab Center sedates the beaver to take a closer look at his injured leg.

The rehab center thanked citizens, volunteers, the Grand Rapids Police Department and Animal Control for their help.
