Well it's not shocking news.... Michigan has an awesome craft beer scene! But IT is pretty interesting to see which Michigan cities have the most breweries, and how they stack up to other U.S. cities.

According to a study from C+R Research, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Royal Oak rank among the top 25 Cities in the U.S. with the most craft breweries per capita,

They analyzed data from more than 500 cities to find out which cities have the most breweries per 50,000 people. They also used Google search data to determine which brewery is tops in each place.

Kzoo came in near the top of the list, at number 5, with 10 breweries per 50K people, and Bell's Brewery being most popular.

GR ranks number 13, with 7 breweries per 50K people, and Brewery Vivant winning out.

Royal Oak is not far behind, at 15th on the list, also with 7 breweries per 50K-- maybe there was a fraction less of a brewery that placed it farther down than Grand Rapids? They found the most popular brewery to be the one bearing the city's name-- Royal Oak Brewery.

Which city took the top spot overall?

Portland, Maine: "The city is just shy of 70,000 people, but it is home to the most craft breweries in America with 18 breweries per 50,000 people," according to C+R Research.
