Greatest Thing to Ever Happen in the Kzoo Subreddit
Someone was recently trying to locate a stone porch goose in the Kalamazoo area. After struggling to locate the goose, a solution was found in a Reddit post.
What is a Stone Porch Goose?

A stone porch goose (or concrete goose) is a nostalgic, life-sized lawn ornament typically placed on a front porch or garden. Originally popular in the 1980s, they are heavy, durable statues designed to withstand all weather.

In addition to stone porch geese, there are also plastic blow-molded and resin versions available, giving you different options in weight, durability, and style.

A defining feature of porch geese is the tradition of dressing them in miniature outfits that change with the seasons and holidays, with many owners building extensive wardrobes for their geese over time.

What Happened to the Stone Goose? Meet the Porch Panther

A Reddit user posted on the Kzoo subreddit saying they were looking to buy an affordable stone porch goose and didn’t want to spend $100, preferring an unpainted version. Instead of a concrete goose offer, they were instead pointed toward an alternative stone animal.

The very first reply in the thread was an offer for a ceramic porch mountain lion.

That’s all it took to go from a stone porch goose to a ceramic porch panther. The thread quickly spiraled from there, with everyone suddenly wanting a porch panther of their own—though it’s still unclear whether outfits for dressing up the panther even exist… yet.
