Kalamazoo Man Busted With 50 Pounds of Meth in Car
Possessing Methamphetamine is a Felony in Michigan
In Michigan, possession of large quantities of methamphetamine is treated as a serious felony offense. It is often prosecuted as a delivery or manufacturing-related charge, and can carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $25,000, or both.
Methamphetamine gained widespread public attention in part due to the television series Breaking Bad, which aired on AMC in the United States for five seasons from 2008 to 2013. The show followed a high school chemistry teacher with no prior involvement in drugs who begins producing meth after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in order to secure his family’s financial future.

Despite that level of awareness to its effects and the serious legal consequences involved, methamphetamine use has not disappeared. Unfortunately, the drug continues to be used by some individuals, while others remain involved in its distribution.
Kalamazoo Man Nabbed With 50 Pounds of Meth in Car
According to WOOD TV 8, a 31-year-old Kalamazoo man suspected of drug trafficking was under surveillance and observed meeting with an alleged supplier. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop after he left the meeting, but he fled, leading deputies on a large-scale pursuit.
Authorities deployed spike strips near Berrien Springs to disable the suspect’s vehicle, but he fled on foot. After an eight-hour search involving drones and police dogs, he was ultimately apprehended. A search of his vehicle reportedly uncovered 50 pounds of crystal methamphetamine.
The man was taken into custody and charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing law enforcement, and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. He also had an outstanding felony warrant for a prior fleeing and eluding case tied to a previous drug-related incident in Van Buren County.
