I'm old enough to remember before video games arrived, and board games were what families or kids did for fun. I know I've played my share of checkers with my dad and friends and even played once in a while with my son.
Monopoly is still the most popular board game of all time. I have played several rounds of Monopoly but I can't remember if I ever fished a game before an argument broke out.
Once video gaming consoles began entering Michigan homes I thought board games would become a thing of the past. I was wrong on that one because more board games have come along and now there are even bars that host board gaming events nightly.

A Grand Rapids Board Game That Uses the Whole City to Play
According to WOOD, City Games is a company that has created a unique interactive game experience that challenges participants to explore the city. The game encourages players to explore Grand Rapids and its businesses and win some prizes along the way. So you are the game piece and Grand Rapids is your board game.
In the fall of 2024, City Games ran a practice season to test that the system worked properly and smoothly. City Games has now launched a new competition that is free to play and offers scavenger hunts, riddles, and selfie safaris. You can play through May 4 for free but must register on the City Games website.
