What Do Michiganders Think Of The Michigan Left?
The Michigan "Left" has been a long-time turn for Michiganders but since roundabouts have come along, what do residents of the Mitten State think of the turn?
What is a Michigan Left?
In case you have been living under a rock and do not know what a "Michigan Left" is, it's a type of turn that is part of an intersection design that replaces traditional left turns with a U-turn.
You drive past where you normally make a left turn to then make a U-turn to go the other way. Michigan lefts were created to reduce congestion, increase safety by reducing the number of accidents, and save time.
What Do Michiganders Think Of The Michigan Left?
A poster with the handle "bumoffline" asked those on the Michigan Reddit page if people in Michigan dislike the Michigan Left or prefer it. Here's what Michiganders had to say about the "Michigan Left."
To show how politics have become so polarizing in Michigan, the first poster, "MrOver65" thought the initial post had to do with the "left" in the state's politics. This whole section has nothing to do with a Michigan Left but entertaining nonetheless. Now let's get back to what people think about the Michigan Left turn.

Now we are learning from the Reddit posters that Michiganders appreciate the Michigan Left more when they visit another state that does not have them. Poster "Treadingresin" made a good point by saying, "It keeps traffic flowing at a more even consistent pace. Less wear and tear on my car, and cuts down on the need for four-way stops."
In this section of the Reddit thread, Michiganders show they like roundabouts better. Poster "Tip_Of_The_Sauce" made a great comment, "People hate it until they realize this it's basically a long roundabout."
This section of the Reddit thread continues to show Michiganders appreciate the Michigan Left more when in another state. The poster "AdjNounNumbers" made a great suggestion when there were two Michigan Lefts, use the second one there is almost no waiting. I do that all the time when driving around on 44th in Grandville.
It looks like Michiganders like the Michigan Left but roundabouts better but you may have to take a trip to another state to appreciate them more.
