After operating for five years near the US-131 and Hall Street interchange, Arktos Meadery is moving to Bridge Street, MiBiz reports.

Owner Maciej Halaczkiewicz says the new location in the 400 block of Bridge Street NW will serve drinks at first but could possibly expand to offering food.

The new location on Bridge Street will provide Arktos Meadery with more space for production and storage, in addition to a tasting room.

Mead is made by fermenting honey with water, sometimes with different fruits, spices, grains, or hops.

Halaczkiewicz told MiBiz,

"Having the exposure and foot traffic will help bring out the mead lovers... We want to be the go-to place where it’s dimly lit and takes you back in time and there’s no TVs — it’s a warming environment."

If all goes to plan, Arktos Meadery on Bridge Street could open as early as November 1.
