A Grand Rapids Mom has given back to her community in a big way.

Fox 17 reports that Angela Sharifsain recently gave out over to 200 backpacks packed with school supplies to kids in her neighborhood.

Sharifsain says she got the idea last year. She told Fox 17,

“I said I’ll put it into plan and just started buying backpacks last year. Then I just kept seeing backpacks and I just kept buying backpacks.”

Sharifsain's effort was mostly self-funded with some help from Robinson Popcorn and Starbucks.

The backpacks were handed out Saturday at her "Backpack Bash" on Prince Street SE. A block was closed off for the event, which included a bounce house, food, and a mobile zoo with exotic animals.

Sharifsain said she would love to continue the event in the future. Anyone who would like to help can email her at angelsain@comcast.net.
