Senior citizens at Samaritas Senior Living Facility are helping collect school supplies for kids in need for the fourth year in a row, Fox 17 reports.

The backpacks stuffed with supplies are going to children in the Samaritas Foster Care program

Alice, one of the residents involved in the collection told Fox 17,

Many children don't have the opportunity to have these things given to them by family or friends. And I believe it's important for them to have all the necessary tools that they need to be successful in life."

Included with the school supplies are hand-written notes - words of encouragement - from the seniors.

If you'd like to help, you can drop off binders, folders, colored pencils, pens, backpacks, and other supplies at Samaritas at 2000 32nd Street SE in Grand Rapids.
