A waterspout was spotted in West Michigan's Berrien County late Tuesday evening.

A waterspout is just like a tornado but happens over water and is not nearly as strong as a tornado that happens over land.

According to Fox 17 and the National Weather Service, meteorologists tracked the severe thunderstorm through Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties that triggered a severe thunderstorm warning.

Rotations were picked up on radar but there was growing concern over the tightening of the rotation and quick spin up of a light EF-0 or EF-1 tornado. Sometimes tornadoes quickly form from this type of rotation speed up and quickly touch down and lift back up.

There were no confirmed reports of any ground damage other than a tree that came down in Kalamazoo County. There were 60 mile per hour wind gusts which caused the issuing of a severe thunderstorm warning across the three counties.
