Vaccinated Americans Can Travel to Canada Again Beginning August 9

The border from the U.S. to Canada has been closed for over a year (unless for essential travel) but soon Americans will be able to visit our neighbors to the north once again.

WXYZ Detroit reports that beginning August 9th at 12:01 a.m., Canada will reopen its borders, but only to fully vaccinated Americans.

"Canadians' safety and security always come first. With rising vaccination rates and fewer cases in Canada, we can begin to safely ease border measures," Canadian Minister of Health Patty Hejdu said in a statement.

Those who are vaccinated will not have to go through the 14-day quarantine prior to entering the country; however, regardless of vaccination status, everyone must show proof that they've tested negative for COVID-19 72 hours before travel. Children 12 and under who are traveling with [eligible] parents/guardians will be exempt from this requirement.

...all travelers must use ArriveCAN (app or web portal) to submit their travel information.

Think twice before trying to fool the government because anyone who is found falsifying records can be fined up to $750,000 or face six months of jail.

Canada plans on opening to all foreign travelers on September 7th.

Currently, Canadians can only travel to the U.S. via plane. On Monday, the Biden Administration said they would evaluate and work with health experts on when to reopen our borders.

I feel like this news calls for a road trip. Throw it back to 19-years-old, get in a car with a group of friends, and head to Windsor to drink and party and maybe dance on a bar or two. Who's in?!
