You Could Own Michigan’s Most HATED Cactus
Growing a garden can be a deceivingly difficult task. You give the plant enough water, and enough sunlight, you repot it when you need to, and hope for the best. Sometimes, people get so close to their plants that they can consider them like children (my friend calls them her "plant babies").
But what happens when you grow to hate the thing you love? In this case, a woman from here in West Michigan grew to have such disdain for a plant that she tried killing it, the complete opposite of what most people try doing, only to ultimately fail and put it up for adoption.
Now, you might be reading that last sentence and think I or the plant owner is being melodramatic. However, I assure you this is no time for jokes. Kiana Zaderej took to the Buy Nothing Grand Rapids, MI Facebook group, a group where people post items they want to give away for free, to rid herself of a cactus that she just can't seem to get rid of.
"This cactus hates me," she writes in her post. "I've gotten little tiny spikes in my skin for too long. I've tried everything to kill it. It refuses to just die. In fact, it grows more...please take it away." As of posting, the cactus has been taken into a new home where it will hopefully be shown some love and appreciation.
At the end of the day, a cactus really is the one plant a person can't kill.
