U of M Players Put NFL Dream on Hold To Win National Championship

Quite a few University of Michigan football players have decided to put their NFL Dream on hold in hopes of winning a National Championship.

There's No I in Team

"There's No I in Team," a phrase we have all heard whether it's on a team or in a job environment, but the phrase is so true.

There is a reason teams like Alabama and Georgia are such powerhouses, their organizations manage to get players to stay in school and on the team rather than bail early to enter the NFL Draft.

Players often leave their college teams 1, 2, or 3 years into the program to enter the NFL. You can't blame them but when a program is building a winning team and a couple of key players leave for the pros it often keeps teams from rising to national championships.

Take the University of Kentucky basketball team for instance, look back and see how many times they get some of the top draft picks in the league and they leave for the NBA after one season. Can you imagine how they would do if they didn't have to rebuild their team every year?

U of M Players Put NFL on Hold

A coach has to love it when a plan comes together. According to FOX 17, U of M coach Jim Harbaugh said in response to a bunch of players staying, "Selfishly, really happy."

Harbaugh should feel that way since running back Black Corum, offensive guards Zak Zinger and Trevor Keegan, linebacker Michael Barrett, defensive lineman Kris Jenkins, cornerback Mike Sainristil and receiver Cornelius Johnson have all decided to stay in hopes of a three-in-a-row as the Big Ten Champions and the big one, to win a national championship.

After 8 seasons coaching the Wolverines, Harbaugh can taste the national championship, and now that the bulk of the last two seasons' players are on board for another season, 2023/24 might be the year for U of M.
