Michigan Whiskey Ranked Among Top Ten Best in the Entire Country
A Michigan distillery is getting national attention for not only some of the best craft whiskey in the U.S. - but also for one of the best places to enjoy a glass!

Traverse City Whiskey Co. is MUST visit if you're in town. Firstly, the whiskey is made with local ingredients (and totally delish!) and the creative cocktails they whip up are amazing.
Last time I was there they had these yummy whiskey slushies!
Secondly the atmosphere is so cool - and there's an awesome outdoor area to hang out it.
Thirdly, they have really cute merch!
Here's my husband and I few years back after we got married in Traverse City:
The distillery's story is cool too - one of the founders discovered his great-grandfather’s old patents for distilling whiskey on his family’s cherry farm.
This ignited a spark among three friends to build something close to their hearts – a small batch whiskey company that bottled not only the best whiskey around, but also the friendly, adventurous spirit of “Up North” Michigan.
As you can tell, I'm a fan! So I'm always jazzed to see Traverse City Whiskey Co. getting national attention.
TC Whiskey was up for Best Craft Whiskey Distillery in a USA Today and 10Best poll. A panel of experts nominated 20 of the standout craft whiskey distilleries in the country, and then it was put up for a public vote.
Traverse City Whiskey came in at No. 10!
Here's USA Today's praise for Traverse City Whiskey Co. --
Traverse City Whiskey Co. makes four barrel proof whiskeys, including a bourbon, rye, wheat and cherry, in addition to their line of signature whiskeys. One of the more unique offerings is the American Cherry Edition, a whiskey steeped with Montmorency cherries grown on the distillery’s own family farm.
The distillery was also up for Best Spirits Tasting Room in the U.S.
Traverse City Whiskey's tasting room came in at No. 8!
Here's USA Today on that:
Traverse City Whiskey Co. invites you to sample their handcrafted spirits and drinks at The Stillhouse, a laid-back speakeasy-style bar. Visitors can sample their beloved American Cherry Bourbon Whiskey that's made from local cherries, as well as their Lakeside Peach and Michigan Apple whiskeys that are both made with fruit from local orchards.
It's an exciting time for Traverse City Whiskey! This past fall, the distillery was awarded a $750,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
According to Up North Live, TC Whiskey is in the process repurposing the abandoned Cherry Growers Co-Op cherry processing facility in Leelanau County's Elmwood Township. Once the project is complete, the space will have a traditional rackhouse, dedicated processing and packaging spaces, a visitor center and tasting room, as well as indoor and outdoor hospitality areas.
