Last year, this Mitten State favorite came in at No. 7 in the USA TODAY and 10Best readers' poll for the "Best Destination Resort in the U.S."

Experts say these are the ultimate spots that lavish guests with "plush accommodations, top-notch dining, and a host of activities"—essentially offering a complete vacation in a single package. A panel of travel pros narrowed the list down to 20 standout properties across the country, and now it’s up to the public to decide who takes home a spot in the top ten.

The beloved Michigan hotel up for the honor again the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island!

Mackinac Island holds a special place in my heart. I used to vacation there as a kid and was completely obsessed with watching fudge being made, riding the ferry over, and exploring Fort Michilimackinac.

Plus, you can't beat the views of Lake Huron! As an adult, I love popping into the Pink Pony for a cocktail or grabbing a bite at Horn’s Gaslight Bar. It's no surprise to me that Mackinac Island has been voted the No. 1 summer vacation destination in the U.S.

However, there’s one Mackinac experience I’ve yet to cross off my bucket list—staying at the Grand Hotel. Someday! Here's USA Today's praise for the spectacular historic resort:
