If a tree is playing a piano in the forest, and there's someone there to record it, would it sell better than Justin Bieber?

I think the video of a tree playing a piano would kick Bieber's ass, yes.

But what some dude actually did is a little different. It's music created from the rings of a tree.

Here's how it works. Guy kills a tree, cuts it into cross-section slices, and then builds a record player out of a PS3 Move Eye, sends the data the eye reads in the tree rings into Ableton Live, and triggers piano sounds. Voila!  His new hit single, Fraxinus (Ash)!

The dude has a whole album of tree music you can download, so get them while they're hot!

Maybe this is where Casey Kasem has vanished to, the forest, so he can bring back some music created by things with more talent and intelligence than the current crop of pop stars!

Almost as awesome as the music, is the comments on the YouTube video.

People are funny. I love the last one.
