Well that was fast! The news from Scott Weiland that he was back with Velvet Revolver and planning to record and tour came as a shock to fans, but no one may have been more surprised than guitarist Slash, who offered a denial when quizzed about it by Minneapolis/St. Paul station 93X.

Velvet Revolver didn't exactly end their relationship with former lead singer Scott Weiland on good terms back in 2008. In fact, the band threw the Stone Temple Pilots frontman under the bus. The musicians have buried the hatchet and will reunite for one night this month.

After months of rumors about Sliptknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor becoming the new singer for Velvet Revolver and the denials afterwards, new light has been shed on what exactly went on between the rock stars. A whole Velvet Revolver album was recorded with Taylor on vocals, but one member decided that wasn't the direction the band should take.

Duff McKagan hosted a SXSW panel at the Austin Convention Center today discussing finances.  Not exactly rock & roll, but with the way the music industry is these days, you would be smart to listen.

A lot of rock stars go broke in their later years in life after making millions, but don't put Velvet Revolver's Duff McKagan in that boat.  The bassist learned not to squander his fortunes early on in his career and hopes to teach that lesson to new musicians by starting a financial planning firm.

Velvet Revolver may have found a new singer to replace former frontman Scott Weiland.
