Well that was fast! The news from Scott Weiland that he was back with Velvet Revolver and planning to record and tour came as a shock to fans, but no one may have been more surprised than guitarist Slash, who offered a denial when quizzed about it by Minneapolis/St. Paul station 93X.

The guitarist stated, “He did not say [we're back together]? He’s out of his mind. There’s been a common rumor going around. I know that he’s been positive on that subject. Maybe they know something I don’t. I have absolutely no intention of going back to that.”

Weiland stated that he had been in contact with the other members of the band and had been given material to write to for a session next week. The singer also added that the plan was to have Slash support his upcoming solo album, with some Velvet Revolver dates to follow in late summer.

When told of Weiland’s comments, Slash added, “I’m on tour all this year. I’ll have to call Duff [McKagan], but I seriously doubt that. We have no intentions of going backwards.” An audio clip of Slash being told about the story can be heard online courtesy of Grunge Report.

So it looks as though a rather awkward phone call is on the horizon for the members of Velvet Revolver. Stay tuned to see how this one plays out.
