The Grand Rapids Area Coalition to End Homelessness is currently taking applications from Kent County residents who need help paying for rent or utilities. $39 million will be given out to those in need as part of COVID Emergency Rental Assistance (CERA).

The grants were distributed to organizations that will help low-income families pay their high energy bills throughout the winter.

Regulators mounted up and only approved about half of the requested amount, still raising monthly bills for the average customer.
