As the rest of the world not-so-quietly debates the merits of Batman vs. Superman’s box office, another superhero movie is quietly setting some more records of its own. After 45 days in theaters, Deadpool has now passed The Matrix Reloaded to become the all-time worldwide box office champ for R-rated movies...

Just days into the movie’s run as the most successful R-rated opening of all time, Deadpool seemingly broke a fifth wall with a 20,000-strong petition to host SNL, or at least Ryan Reynolds in character. Take your pick of reasons that would never happen, but now Deadpool has given an official response, dragging Kanye West’s recent backstage tirade into the mix.

Deadpool made a ton of money this past weekend. At 84% on Rotten Tomatoes it’s been a success with critics too. It’s already influencing multiple future blockbusters. People love Deadpool. Apparently people love Deadpool so much they want him to host SNL. No, not Ryan Reynolds, he already hosted back in 2009 with musical guest Lady Gaga. Over 20,000 fans and counting want the character himself to host a full episode of SNL.

Deadpool defied early predictions for a $65 million opening weekend and broke records with its $135 million box office take, validating Fox’s decision to green light a sequel before the film even properly hit theaters. The R-rated, hyper-violent, hyper-profane superhero flick is a hit, to say the least, and there’s a lesson to be learned from Fox taking a gamble on such a risky blockbuster — but Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, like many of us, fears that studios might wind up taking the wrong lesson from Deadpool’s success.

Early tracking for Fox's Deadpool solo film suggested that Tim Miller's profanity and violence-laden superhero outing would bring in around $65 million. That number inflated over the past week, and thanks to a strong preview night on Thursday, February 11, the estimate for the risky action film ballooned to $135 million — and that's precisely how much Deadpool made in its first three days in theaters, shattering a few box office records along the way.

Deadpool star T.J. Miller recently said that there’s a more profane, more violent and more “raw” cut of the film, leading many fans to believe that we’d eventually see an unrated, extended version of the movie hit DVD and Blu-ray. Unfortunately, that won’t be happening, as director Tim Miller has revealed that he has no plans for a director’s cut of Deadpool, so you’ll just have to enjoy the one that’s out there.

Tim Miller’s R-rated adaptation of the beloved, foul-mouthed superhero was on track to make $60 million at the box office this weekend, but Deadpool is now expected to top that estimate as it has already begun breaking box office records for February. The Merc With a Mouth’s first solo outing is primed for the biggest R-rated movie opening of all time, as well as the biggest opening for a film released in the month of February.

The marketing campaign for Deadpool has been stellar. They've knocked it out of the park, advertising-wise, with the Valentine's romantic ads, and all the viral silliness. Even Ryan Reynold's IKEA video makes sense when you see the movie. Most movies can't live up to the hype-up, but Deadpool not only lives up to it, but exceeds expectations.

Producer Joe had a bad day with trivia today, and even though he's hosting the Deadpool premiere tonight, he does not want you to come out and give him any grief about them. Come "chat" with Joe, as he's been "watching a lot of things", and would love to chat with you tonight.

Today on Segment 16, the guys talked about our unseasonably warm winter, and yesterday's upper 40's temperatures. This led to taking the kids out to play, and how long before they freeze and get tired while the kids have a blast. Old farts, haha! I'm sure they'll kill me for that one.
