All Taco John’s Locations in Michigan Quietly CLOSE
Taco John's made its glorious return to West Michigan in 2022 to much fanfare, quickly spreading around the West side and having five locations by May 2024. The Meritage Hospitality Group (TMHG) which owns Wendy's, Stan's Tacos, and Morning Belle had previously stated Grand Rapids would be the start of nearly 200 new locations around the Midwest.
So it's a surprise to everyone that Taco John's quietly removed Michigan from the Locations tab on their website, closing all five locations around the state.
Taco John's Closed
Back in 2022 when TMHG, which is based in Grand Rapids, announced that the beginning of Taco John's Midwest expansion was going to be starting here in GR, TMHG President Gary Rose expressed overwhelming excitement about Taco John's prospects in the area.
It would seem within two short years this enthusiasm has taken a drastic 180. Using the Wayback Machine, an archive of the internet that allows you to access a site from previous dates, May 22nd had Michigan and its five locations listed as shops. However, as of this weekend, Michigan has disappeared from the site completely and no longer appears on Google either.

Approaching the Caledonia location of Taco John's you'll find the location locked up with a sign on the door reading "Closed For Rebranding", one year after it opened. Meritage Hospitality Group has not made an official statement about this "rebranding", but it would appear other Midwest locations are experiencing the same fate as ours.
Ohio had two Taco John's close with the same sign hanging on the door. What is next for Taco John's is uncertain, but what is certain is that if you were craving some Potato Olés, you'd need to go on a road trip to get them.
