A staple in my household for most of my life growing up was gathering around the TV to watch "Survivor", the reality competition TV series about outwitting, outplaying, and outlasting your opponents in a tropical location to try to win $1 million.

It's my Mom's favorite show (she thinks Jeff Probst is so charming), and she's convinced I would do so well on this show (thanks, Mom.) While I appreciate the vote of confidence, I don't have the guts to do that. However, two people from Michigan will be on the show this season.

Survivor Season 47

Survivor has been a staple of CBS since it premiered in 2000. Now entering a whopping 47th season, Survivor 47 will pit 18 contestants from every walk of life in beautiful Fiji until only one is left standing. Last season's winner, Kenzie Petty, was from Gibraltar, Michigan, so hopefully our two contestants from Michigan this year can repeat her success.

Meet Rachel and Kyle

This season we'll be introduced to Kyle Ostwald, a 31-year-old construction worker from Cheboygan, and Rachel LaMont, a 34-year-old graphic designer from Southfield.

Rachel claims her play style is inspired by Goldilocks, aiming to be

"not too smart but not unstrategic, not too physical by not too weak, just being right in the middle spot."

Kyle is known for racing demo cars, so his play style is going to be as aggressive as his races.

"The goal of the game is to cross the finish line, and if that means putting somebody in the wall along the way, then so be it."

He's playing for his fiancé and his baby daughter, Moose.

You can watch these two compete when the season starts on Wednesday, September 18th on CBS and Paramount+, and you can read more about them here.
