Back in June, drummer Jay Weinberg revealed a photo from his first ever meeting with Slipknot. His father Max Weinberg had met the band during a performance on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show and took young Jay (decked out in a Slipknot mask) to see the band at a local show. Now, the grown up Jay is playing drums for Slipknot, and recreating the famous photo.

"Time is a flat circle," says Jay Weinberg, recalling Matthew McConaughey's famous True Detective quote and teasing the photos he posted on his social media.

In the original shot, Max Weinberg introduces his son to guitarist Jim Root while attending a show at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J. Max, Jay and Jim once again posed in a hallway at the venue to recreate the photo, though there are obviously some advances in the jumpsuits and looks. Check it out and scroll through below, along with another photo of father and son enjoying themselves onstage.

Recalling his first time seeing Slipknot live and meeting the band, Jay stated earlier this year, "My dad came home and said, 'You've got to check out this thing that I just saw. These crazy guys wear these masks and I've never heard music like this. You've got to see this, you're going to love this.'"

The drummer continued, "This is music, this is powerful music and this is going to define the rest of my life. It's the most enjoyable, self-destructive, euphoric experience, and it takes a lot of blood, it takes a lot of pain, but it's all worth it, because Slipknot is the greatest band, period."

Much like Jay was inspired as a teen by Slipknot, this past week he found some similarities when a 14-year-old female drummer named Maren Alford turned a lot of heads with her viral drum cover of Slipknot's "Unsainted." Alford got Weinberg's stamp of approval, with the drummer reaching out and telling her, "So rad. You’re killing it, @MarenAlford. I first started learning how to play drums by doing just what you’re doing, at your exact age. We @sjcdrums family are a tight group — come hang at a @slipknot show sometime soon!"
