While it seems Charlie Sheen is falling deeper into insanity, he does have celebrity friends in his corner.  One of Sheen's supporters and neighbor is Slash, who battled his own demons in the past.

Slash stood up for Sheen in an interview with Australia's Triple M Radio (via Rock AAA).

“I love Charlie, he is probably the most rock n’ roll character in entertainment today.  All things considered, he’s been having a little bit of a hard time recently with all the bad press and everything.  But he’s been managing to get away with what he’s been doing on that show, and get a raise, over the last more than ten years.  I think that’s pretty cool.”

Slash was later asked how Sheen can find a balance between his work and rock star lifestyle and admitted that there wasn't one.

“I never did find a balance.  I was probably one of those guys that manage to work and be under the influence on a regular basis.  I was responsible.  I showed up.  I never fell over on stage.  I never missed a gig.  I finally just got to a point where I was sick and tired of all that.  That said, there is a cap, a point where you can’t be productive.”

Check out the interview below.  Are you surprised Slash publicly defended Sheen?  It seems a little risky.  I think it takes a lot of balls to do that and Slash has my respect.
