Shooting Incidents Leave Two Injured in Grand Rapids Thursday Night
Two people were injured in separate shooting incidents Thursday night in Grand Rapids, Fox 17 reports.
The first incident occurred on the northwest side of Grand Rapids near the corner of 11th Street and Quarry Avenue. In what police believe was a drive-by shooting, a woman was injured when she was hit in the face by shattered glass.
The second shooting happened in southeast Grand Rapids, near Burton Street and Union Avenue. A 2-year-old was hit in the arm. The child's injuries were not life threatening, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Thursday's incidents follow a shooting Wednesday afternoon outside Wealthy Street Market in which one person was killed. WZZM-13 reports it was the city's 19th homicide this year, which already surpasses the number of homicides recorded in 2019 at 18.
The GRPD are holding a press conference Friday at 10:30a.m. to address the recent uptick in violence.
