Grand Rapids is known for excellent craft brews, great food, and unique atmospheres at many different locations around the city. Really, the amount of offerings is almost daunting. GR has felt unique in that many restaurants have become staples of the community with little turnover. Grand Rapids Brewing Co., for example, has been part of the city since 1893 and has been located at 1 Ionia Ave SW Ste 100 since 2012.

Or rather, it was located there. Sadly, GRBC is just one of many restaurants that have been open for years that have announced they were closing their doors in recent years, many without warning. The food industry has struggled since the COVID-19 pandemic, and that can be evidenced by many of the locations closing around here.

Let's take a look at a few of the establishments that will be sorely missed in GR and then learn about some new restaurants that have opened that could be a new favorite.
