PBR Creating New Line of Whiskey With West Michigan Distillery
It appears Pabst Blue Ribbon is getting in on the liquor game-- And they're partnering with a distillery here in West Michigan!
MiBiz reports New Holland Brewing Co. (which, aside from its famous brews like Dragon's Milk and Mad Hatter, makes liquors too) recently got federal approval for a Pabst-branded whiskey label.
The label reads,
"This is a Pabst Blue Ribbon Whiskey. Made from nature's choicest products that, legend would have it, Jacob Best used in 1884 to provide it's smooth, complex flavor."
I also appreciate that it's "aged 5 seconds", haha!
MiBiz says that New Holland Brewing President Brett VanderKamp acknowledged the label, but didn't give more info, saying executives at Pabst were leading the project.
PBR spokesperson Alastair Duncan said in an email to MiBiz, "We are just not quite ready yet as several details [are] still up in the air." He did acknowledge the project is "quite a big thing for the brand.”
According to MiBiz, PBR and New Holland have an existing relationship in which Pabst sells New Holland’s beer through its own nationwide sales channels.
Under the name "New Holland Artisan Spirits", New Holland currently has lines of whiskey, rye, bourbon, rum, gin, and liqueur.
No word yet on when we'll be able to get our hands on PBR Whiskey, or more importantly, get it in our bellies.
